A Good Book

I absolutely love to read! My dream would be to spend the whole day reading and then fall asleep with a good book! Let me share with you what I am currently reading, what I have read lately, and what is on my list to read next.

The Magician’s Nephew

C.S. Lewis

The first book in the Chronicles of Narnia series is one of my all time favorite books. This book tells the story of the creation of the land of Narnia from the perspective of a young boy and girl who have inadvertently traveled between worlds. They get to watch while Aslan creates a world, and then they bear the responsibility of repairing the damage they’ve done by thoughtlessly moving between worlds.

The Far Pavilions

M.M. Kaye

Set in India during the 1800s, this book follows the life and adventures of a British boy who looks Indian. The combination of these two facts produce a life that is as complicated as one would imagine. Intrigue, romance, and adventure set against the changing landscape of colonial India during the Mutiny created a historical novel that I can’t wait to read again.

Ollie Oxley and the Ghost

Lisa Schmid

A delightfully easy read an adult, this book is the perfect reading level for a 3rd grader. The story is fictionally set in my hometown which made it extra fun for me to read. It tells the engaging story of a young boy living in a new town dealing with bullies, treasure, and a new friend who doesn’t seem to be all that he appears. A mystery that kept my attention made me not want to put this book down until I’d finished it.
