Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Psalms 90:12
Life is made up of experiences and opinions.
We all see the world through a certain lens, a certain bias that is based on our experiences. I am no different that anyone else in seeing the world through my own lens. Acknowledging this bias does not diminish my opinion or invalidate my perspective. On the contrary, I believe that there are many people who share the same perspective or who would be interested in hearing about a different perspective.
I find a tremendous amount of satisfaction in hearing about other people’s perspectives that are different than mine. To have the ability to hear about other experiences that lead to other conclusions is a gift. To have the desire to hear another person’s opinion on a topic is the foundation of enlightenment and growth. To have the wisdom to know when to share my own experience and my own opinion is something I am constantly striving for. Lately I feel that I have done too much listening and not enough sharing. It is better to stand for something and be wrong than to stand for nothing. I’m afraid my silence has been interpreted as standing for nothing.
This page will be where I talk about what I stand for and what makes a life worth living. There are so many little things we can do to improve the quality of our lives, so many small steps to gaining a better understanding of the world around us, so many fun things to do to bring joy and laughter to our days. I am adamantly pro-life and feel that it is our moral duty to help others wherever they may be on the journey of life. I especially love the elderly, the very young, moms, and small-business owners.
